I had the absolute pleasure this year of attending a fantastic annual event hosted by WAITS (Women Acting in Today’s Society) charity at the Jam House, Birmingham on the 25th July 2019.
WAITS Charity support women with issues such as welfare benefits, employment and education, domestic violence, isolation, health, and fear of crime.
The last Thursday of every month at the Jam House is a Salsa night, where you can learn Salsa, listen and enjoy brilliant bands. To enhance this evening, WAITS in Birmingham had a fundraising event on this night. I alongside my sister Eilidh Rose, her fiancée Oliver Davies and my partner James Pickering all enjoyed a wonderful meal and music surrounded by lovely people.
After the meal was a raffle where prizes included a meal and at the Jam House, meal at Chung Ying, designer handbags, champagne and so much more.
I was surprised and thrilled when I won the first raffle prize, as I went up to the large selection of prizes, I had an envelope pointed out to me and advised to pick this prize, of course I chose this prize and found I had won two, weekend day tickets to the Cropredy Festival.
I had never heard of this festival before, nevertheless being a lover of music I was very excited to be going and seeing who was going to join me.
Cropredy is an annual festival of folk and rock music, headed by British folk-rock band Fairport Convention and held on the edge of the village of Cropredy in Oxfordshire. I went with Eilidh the first day then James the second, we enjoyed listening to a variety of solo artists and bands throughout the day in to the evening. It was a brilliant weekend, full of happy campers enjoying time with friends and loved ones, and a large amount of dogs. The tall poles with personalised flags, picnic blankets and camping chairs covered the field with everyone relaxing, enjoying the atmosphere and music. We were lucky with the weather apart from the Friday, however that didn’t stop anyone!
It was such a wonderful and unique raffle prize to win, thank you to WAITS for providing this fun experience and I very much look forward to continuing to support such a worth while charity with such lovely people.
